Reviews
After boarding the sleeping bus, we arrived at Sapa and the passengers dispersed after meeting the guides, but I couldn't contact the guide, so I waited for a while and joined later. Please be careful because the communication in the Sapa area is unstable. I didn't know what kind of hiking clothes to prepare because I didn't know the weather, so I was wandering around, but I think it would be good to prepare for a night hike in the fall. I went on a second hike at 3:30 in the morning, and since visibility was difficult due to the sea of fog, prepare a headlamp and a mask to protect against the cold air, and non-slip hiking shoes that cover your ankles are essential. Sleeping bags are provided at the camp, so you don't need to buy or bring them. (I bought them, but I didn't bring them because of the weight.)
The hike was good, we were taken care of by the locals trekking guide, however the lunch was disappointing and the amenities at the top of the mountain was run down and dirty. Nonetheless the locals were nice to give us styrofoam and sleeping bags for us to sleep in. Overall experience was good, recommended! 👍
The Fansipan mountain tour with a train ride from Sapa offered a unique adventure. The porter’s assistance was invaluable, ensuring a smoother journey. The cold mountain hut accommodation added an authentic touch, making it a memorable experience for those seeking an adventurous escape.
Very fulfilling experience and one I would recommend to everyone if you love hiking! Event flow for my trip: ~9pm: Bus pickup to main office ~10pm: Set off for Sapa on sleeper bus, with 2 stops 6am: Reach Sapa, transfer to another bus to hotel. Wash up and eat breakfast ~8+am: take a taxi to start point to start hike ~11+am: Lunch break ~3pm: Reach base camp and stay for the night, with dinner at around 5pm ~330am: breakfast, hike to peak ~5+ to 6am: reach peak waited till 830am to take the cable car down +: •Hike involved some climbing but I would say it’s pretty safe especially if the weather is good. Challenging but fulfilling to complete it. •Views are extremely worth the hike, we were lucky to have clear skies and could see the beautiful sunrise •Dinner was great -: •sleeper bus not the most comfortable but to be expected •weather was super cold at night, the 2 sleeping bags given to us was still not enough. Bring an entire set of clothes for sleep (at least 2 layers + thick socks) •bring own headlight if possible, one of us went without headlight as guide didn’t have extra
Value for money, the trek was great. Almost everything was smooth. Just standard sleeper bus provided, may not comfortable for all. There better and nicer sleeper bus though. For price paid, this is simply worth. The best part of this trek, sunrise! We had able to witness a beautiful sunrise at Fansipan summit. Probably you can see it if you taking a cable car to Fansipan. As they operate only after 7am I guess. I joined in group trek, we were 7 of us, 2 from Singapore, 2 from Vietnam, the rest from Canada, France and Malaysia (me). We had great time and good team too. A lot of steps and uphills, so better get prepared for fitness levels. I did 2D1N trek, however, don’t expect fantastic stay at their Checkpoint 3 (where u will be overnight). I hope this place should be maintained a bit better for trekker. Also, during trek I found a lot of plastic/rubbish thrown. I hope trekkers or locals should concern about environment and protect them from any kind damages. Or the government should initiate something too.
this hike was fun. you got to get to the Hanoi Train station yourself to exchange physical train ticket. you take an overnight train to Lao Cai station. the train itself was an adventure, we were given rooms with 4 bunk beds. 4 water and packet of chips were provided. the train was noisy but pretty. 6am reach Lao Cai, the driver will pick you to eat breakfast and keep luggages. 9am guide will arrive and go to mountain base to start climbing. the trek starts pretty easy and gets a little tougher but manageable. porter will carry you food up and cook for you. you can pay extra to carry your stuff. it's gets cooler as you ascend. the view will be nicer as you climb. at about 4pm we reach the 2800m camp site. it has a cook house where we eat dinner and a separate hut for sleeping, with many rooms, we have 5 pax in a room with low mats and sleeping bags provided. note that no lights or electricity is provided in the room. there is only a lamp at the walkway. toilet is there but no hot water. you wouldn't bathe as it's very cold water. the dinner served was really fantastic with local simple food. earlier on midway in the Mountain we had bun bread with luncheon meat and fruits. all good. you get to sleep very early as there's nothing to do in the night. the sky was amazing with tonnes of stars. woke at 3am clean up and ready. breakfast was served with instant noodles with fried egg in it. coffee was served. started climbing after breakfast to the peak. it was a enjoyable summit morning. cold and nice. sea of clouds. once you reach the cable cat station you can use toilet. but note that you still have another 30mins of stairs to climb. the view at the top was fantastic
This trekking course reached the summit safely with a guide even in the rain. However, there was a problem with pick-up and drop-off. It may be because there are a lot of cars at the pick-up and drop-off location, but when picking up, I walked for 5 minutes and got into the vehicle, and while driving in a Tropsey vehicle, it suddenly crashed. I stopped the car, called the bike, and dropped it off at the drop location. I was very dissatisfied.
Plan to climb Fansipan was delayed due to bad weather, and the next day it got even worse. Trekking was suspended for a few days because of the risk of landslides. I didn’t have much time, so it was either a refund or the cable car. I chose the ride, stopped halfway and hiked the last few km up the stairs. Still a nice experience, just not what I hoped for. Btw, the local organizer didn’t contact me until a day before the trip. I had no updates after booking and plenty of questions, They finally reached out through WhatsApp once I arrived in Hanoi just the day before the trip.
2D1N Fansipan Trek Tour includes bus transpo from Hanoi to Sapa, 4 meals, porter and guide. Did the trek March 10-11, 2025. . The trek was by far the most uncomfortable situation I put myself into because I was not prepared for Sapa weather in March which was very cold; it was down to 3degree Celsius. . However, the tour was nice! The guide and porter were very kind; they really took good care of us. Meals were humble but already a luxury when hiking. . Bring your own sleeping bag and when hiking in Q1 of the year, prepare warm clothing. Trained yourself for unlimited assaults but trail is already established. And prepare extra cash as cable car is an option when going down.
Communication can be a small issue so you must really (seriously make sure) confirm about your itinerary to avoid unnecessary miscommunication-their English and your English are different. I was delayed for a day due to it. Overall, you will be updated via WHATSAPP throughout. Day 1 - boarded the sleeper bus@9.20pm Hanoi Old Quarters(the driver is no-nonsense & quite rude)(bus do stop 3 x for pee)(bus has I think 12 upper & 12 lower beds & it's comfy but only if u are 1.75m or less - I'm 1.75 & lying straight, my soles &head touches both ends of the bed)(bus set off 9.50pm). Day 2 - bus arrived at 4.15am in Sapa, cooling 20 deg, waited for about an hour before car came to pick to a hotel to wash up & put our things. everyone waited till about 7.30am to have breakfast. Miscommunication - my guide did not turn up after everyone's gone by 10++am. so I'm left alone...with many ??? so i booked a hotel (mountain queen)& spent the night there...with a nice view & breakfast. Day 3(supposedly my Day 2) - 8.45am guide pick me up on motorcycle-30min ride to starting point of hike... a)9.30am set off. Hike to first camp...easy hike for about 1.5km where you meet the streams...found some edible berries...yum...from 2km on u will meet ascending rock steps and stairs until 4km mark(11.25am)-u reach the 1st camp@2200m where u will rest & lunch(1 com sandwich, 1 banana and several plums)-theres toilet & clean shelter. setoff@12.20pm-ive lost count of steep ascending slippery rock stepS and metal stairs(not forgetting descending ones)...2.30pm finally reached base camp@2800m...all misty & windy...drizzling too so it's cold. waiting for dinner-setting down in the barrack with sleeping bags-guide started cooking our dinner@3pm while I froze inside the barrack...yummy Dinner was ready around 4pm...thereafter guide goes KO while I try to sleep... unable to sleep- it's too eaRly-tried to sleep 7pm...it's pitch dark, raining, thunder, window is covered with plastic sheet so it's flapping constantly...there's always something crawling along the ceiling-but u Duno what...so a lot of sleep startle sleep awake cycle...finally a cat visited me...there goes my sleep until dawn Day 3 (ascent to peak)-lashing thunderstorm rain only stopped 6am...set off late, so did not use my headlamp(could not imagine traversing in the dark along the streams)-endless crazy streams, slippery rocks and boulders, uneven and muddy ground, countless metal stairs up and up... 8am reached peak after a long stone 500++ stairs walk along the Buddha & Dieties...got my cert and medal... ended-u either pay 600k vnd to take cable down or trek down the way you suffered up...choice is yours... note - I went during rainy season and there's nothing to see at the top, mists, rain and coldness thats all... do ensure u have a grippy trail &/or gortex shoes & also a good core and thigh muscles to handle the slippery mossy rocks besides a strong mental and fitness...It's worth the challenge and l'll be back... if u choose to trek down after the summit, u will likely(if u R fit & + lunch) reach the starting point between 1-2pm++ or else the cable will take just 30min++ important - this package does not include RETURN TRIP back to HANOI.
