a fun and relaxing activity, which the kids (and adults too) would surely enjoy. we got to feed the elephants ranging from "babies" to adults. before the show, you can buy food for 3ringgit. after the show, they provide watermelon bits (for free) to feed the elephants. we weren't able to bathe the elephants as the water level was high (according to the guide, the best time to go if you want to bathe the elephants is around June) there were only 2 groups for this activity (our group of 2 and parents with 2 children), so we were quite comfortable in our transport. unfortunately, the other group (particularly the father) was very demanding and bent on imposing HIS schedule, and not that of the tour guide/driver, as if this was a private tour and not a group tour. our guide, Ben, was exerting effort to be patient (and so did we, actually). well, you can't really choose who you go on tour with. you just have to bear with it

What To Expect

Meet one of the most majestic animals in the world — the mighty elephant — in a conservation area dedicated specifically to them. Established all the way back in 1989 by the Department of Wildlife and National Parks, the Elephant Sanctuary is a great place to see how elephants live and interact in a natural environment. If you are ready to get up close and personal, you will get a chance to bathe the elephants using special brushes — under the watchful eye of the park rangers, of course. You will also get to learn about the sanctuary's efforts to relocate the elephants whose habitats have been threatened and discover the challenges facing the friendly giants in today's rapidly developing world.

Seeing the sanctuary was a wonderful experience. This place is worth visiting because the elefants are treated good. they are not chained, and people are aloud to feed them with fruits, touching them a little bit and bathing with them when the water level af the river is low. Only the mahouts are aloud to ride them for training purpose. The only minus for our day was that we were picked up at 08:30; not at 09:00 as it stated originally, we spend like an hour in town to collect more people and we were left at a main pick-up site were we met our actual driver who took us to the elefant sanctuary, but there was only my partner and I going there, the rest of people had different excursions. So we were unhappy and wandering why the agency did like that instead of sending the driver to pick us up straight away and got to the sanctuary. It would have been much faster and we got bored of traveling so much in the morning. During our travel we stopped for coffee and later for lunch. That restaurant seemed poorly but the driver choosed some delicious food for us and we appreciate. He made us have a good time and explained us about a lots of things regarding Malaysia which was great. We arrived at Gandah sanctuary at 12 am. They have a program there even if they are open earlier. There is a movie at 13:00 and after the movie about 13:30 they let every one to go and see the elefants with a guide. After the visit we met back with the driver in the carpark and returned to Kuala Lumpur. We loved this experience.

The sanctuary itself was fantastic. We got to interact with the elephants, feeding and bathing them, which was an amazing experience. The only downside was the beginning of the tour. We were told to wait at a certain hotel - but there were actually two hotels with the same name in the city and we’d gone to the wrong one. We managed to contact the tour office to clarify and quickly made our way over to the second hotel, but arrived late. Although I don’t think this can be our fault, our driver was very annoyed about it, and called us out in front of the entire tour bus, which we weren’t happy about. However, from there we were taken to pick up a new bus at a central meeting point and from that time on, the tour was a total pleasure.

Scam on a grand scale, nothing go this day. I paid for a day with my wife, the guide did everything to take us back to another place that we were not interested in at all. the pickup at 9am was rather at 9:45, we refused to go to the other place, so the guide was 70km / h on the highway confirming 3 times that the activity was closed and we had to arrive at 2pm, 11am it is stop to eat but we were not hungry so we waited that he finishes eating. we arrived at 12:45 to the elephants and everything was open, what a liar! Once the finished activity we are back and the guide to 120km / h and frankly did not know how to drive at all he send big steering wheel and brake so I do not recommend at all this activity at least not with klook.

We had a wonderful experience!! Really loved every moment, Kenny our guide was excellent he was very knowledgable and went the extra mile! Thank you! Nobody else was booked to go, so we basically had a private tour, we stopped over at Deerland too, which was great! The elephant sanctuary was nicely organised with lots of opportunities to feed the elephants. We also got a chance to bathe the baby elephants, which was incredible. Overall, would highly recommend this experience!

literally best day ever, the whole tour for us was private, so we were pretty lucky. We paid extra to bathe the elephant and it was so worth it. our tour guide was amazing as we got our own private guide, the driver was great too he even took us around a aberigine village!

The driver was informative and knowledgeable. Lunch venue could be improved. Bathing with elephant is once a life time experience.
