What To Expect

Meet one of the most majestic animals in the world — the mighty elephant — in a conservation area dedicated specifically to them. Established all the way back in 1989 by the Department of Wildlife and National Parks, the Elephant Sanctuary is a great place to see how elephants live and interact in a natural environment. If you are ready to get up close and personal, you will get a chance to bathe the elephants using special brushes — under the watchful eye of the park rangers, of course. You will also get to learn about the sanctuary's efforts to relocate the elephants whose habitats have been threatened and discover the challenges facing the friendly giants in today's rapidly developing world.

Wonderful Local Tour In Kuala Lumper.

Good tour, pick up from the hotel was on time. A little disappointed with the sanctuary itself, I expected more free-roaming elephants. But there was only 5 in small enclosures. It's good that you are able to get up close and feed them though. Quite a distance for this tour, not sure it's really worth it. Would have preferred to see some Malaysian countryside

its a good experience. it can still be improve as its very hard to hear what the speaker is saying. it will be good if they have alternative plan if the river is high and cannot proceed withj bathing with elephants

Far far away from KLP and will have a stop to shop which is really waste time. The tourist is nice but this trip is a title bit boring. ( I am a big fan of elephant but this trip is really not interesting) Also it really need to improve the environment of the lunch place!

The pick up at 9am from the hotel was on time and the driver took us to a larger rendezvous point where it appears all the tours are run from. There was some confusion about which bus we should get on and we were told to board different busses by different drivers. Eventually we found our way on to the correct mini bus. The mini bus was quite old, cramped and had poor seats. After about an hour of travelling we stopped at a batik shop. Wasn't expecting that and had very little interest in it. A waste of time. Our guide, Wan, took us around the sanctuary, talking to us about the elephants and his work there. We fed some of the elephants before watching them be bathed by their keepers. Then we got to bathe a 9 year old orphaned elephant called Chat. What an experience.

Avoid, do not support, like circus , caged animals, VERY SAD! Even the documentary seemed a bit one sided. Like why are the elephants now attacking the palm trees? In my view cause they removed habitat and planted palm trees. Very disturbed to see 5 caged elephants that beg for food. 2 of which were Juvenal. Many exhibit psychosis and just plan looked sad. I had maybe hoped too much from this, given the blurbs from the tourism Malaysia offices, but if I wanted a zoo I would of gone to Singapore. This was far far worse.

The trip was ok. Price is not very competitive though coz the local agents offer lower. Thx anyway.
