What To Expect

Send your hopes and dreams to the sky in the 2018 Pingxi Sky Lantern Festival in Taipei! Since 1990, the lantern festival has been Taiwan's most important festival and was named "the second biggest New Year's Eve celebration in the world" by Discovery Channel. It was part of CNN's list of "52 Things To Do", too. Join this celebration and experience the lights, lanterns, and firecrackers fill the air. Make your own lantern, play games, and enjoy live performances—these are only a few of the many activities you can do in the festival. Hours before the festival, visit some of the must sees on a tour around Taipei, as well. Make your own moon cake at Kuo Yuan Ye Museum of Cake and Pastry, and explore The Grand Hotel Taipei, Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall, and Songshan Cultural and Creative Park, Taipei 101 Shopping Mall, and Pingxi Old Street. This activity is perfect for friends and family—including the kids!

The most magical experience in Taiwan. The call time was early and we were almost 40 tourists. Beral our tour guide is very caring, we had complimentary water, raincoat, and pineapple cake during the trip. We had ample time for each stop to take photos. When we reached Pingxi the weather is breezy, less people, and lots of good food. Come festival time, the program was organized. The festival assistants were helpful. They offered to take photos and videos which surprised us because the photo looks like it was taken by a professional. When the lantern was launched you will feel the magic. I would say lantern festival is more fulfilling than the solo launch of lanterns. We shall return.
