• Famous Taoist Mountain

Sanqing Mountain Scenic Area is located in the northeast of Shangrao City and is known as "Little Huangshan." It is named for the three mountain peaks of Yujing, Yuxu, and Yuhua, which stand tall and resemble the three deities of Taoism, Yuqing, Shangqing, and Taiqing, sitting on the top of the mountain. This is a famous Taoist mountain, and the scenery has a bit of an ethereal feel. You can see beautiful seas of clouds and sunrises, appreciate the lifelike strange rocks in the mountains, and walk on the high-altitude栈道 (cliffside path) to enjoy the scenery.

• Oriental Goddess

The Oriental Goddess is located in the northeast of the Nanching Garden Scenic Area of Sanqing Mountain Scenic Area. It is shaped like a girl with long hair draped over her shoulders, with a peaceful expression, standing tall for thousands of years. It can be seen after taking the Jinsha Cableway (Eastern Cableway) up the mountain and is one of the must-see landscapes in Sanqing Mountain.

• Python Out of the Mountain

Python Out of the Mountain is an elephantine stone pillar formed by long-term weathering and gravity. The peak is steep, the top is slightly flat, and the neck is slightly thin, just like a giant python breaking out of the mountain. It can be described as a masterpiece of nature. It is opposite to the Oriental Goddess landscape. It can be seen from Jinsha Cableway (Eastern Cableway) to Nanching Garden Scenic Area.

In addition, Jade Girl Praying, Monkey King Presenting Treasures, Old Taoist Worshipping the Moon, Guanyin Appreciating Music, Ge Hong Offering Elixir, Dragon Playing with Pine, Three Dragons Out to Sea, Sea Lion Swallowing the Moon and other strange peaks and rocks are also beautiful scenery of Sanqing Mountain Scenic Area. Don't forget to use your imagination and feel the wonders of nature.

Popular Scenic Spots

• Nanching Garden Scenic Area

This is where the natural wonders of Sanqing Mountain Scenic Area are concentrated. The major iconic landscapes of Sanqing Mountain, such as Python Out of the Mountain and Oriental Goddess, are located here. The Liuxia Platform in the scenic area is a good place to enjoy the sunset and the sea of clouds. The sunrise and sunset on the Jade Terrace are very charming. In May and June, you can also enjoy the blooming azaleas in the Azalea Valley. Most tourists choose to visit here in the afternoon, starting from Liuxia Platform and descending to Youxian Valley. On the way, you can descend the 299 steps of Yixiantian (一线天, a narrow passage between steep cliffs) to feel the importance of the mountains. You can also enjoy the beautiful sunset in the evening.

• Sanqing Fudi Scenic Area

The essence of Taoism in Sanqing Mountain is in this scenic area. Taking Sanqing Palace as the core, it gathers the Taoist cultural landscape of Sanqing Mountain and can be called an "open-air museum" of ancient Taoist architecture. Among them, the best-preserved is the small stone pagoda of the Song Dynasty built on a dangerous rock, with a delicate appearance and an amazing location. In addition to appreciating Taoist culture, this is also a good place to enjoy the scenery. Fenglei Pagoda is a good place to watch the sunrise and sea of clouds, and Feixian Platform is a good place to enjoy the sunset.

• West Coast Scenic Area

The West Coast Scenic Area is an open platform for viewing Sanqing Mountain. The amazing high-altitude栈道 (cliffside path) is located here. Walking on the high-altitude栈道 (cliffside path), you can feel the fun of strolling on the cliffs, admire the magnificent scenery of the continuous peaks and deep canyons, and you can also see the beautiful sunset and sea of clouds in the distance.

• Yujing Peak Scenic Area

Yujing Peak Scenic Area is famous for the three peaks of Yujing, Yuxu and Yuhua. Among them, the sea of clouds, sunrise and sunset of Yujing Peak are magnificent, and it is also a good location to have a panoramic view of the entire Sanqing Mountain Scenic Area. However, due to the steepness of the mountain peaks, it is not recommended for tourists to climb to the top of Yujing Peak. After all, safety is important.

• Wanshou Garden Scenic Area

This is a very symbolic scenic spot in Sanqing Mountain Scenic Area, located at the southern foot of Sanqing Mountain. With the theme of auspicious longevity culture, the Longevity Star is the iconic landscape here. Strolling through it, admiring the Guanyin Terrace, the Grow Old Together Peak, the Crane Longevity Top, and the Delu Terrace, you can feel the health, wellness, and longevity that permeate here.

Tour Route

The entire main scenic area of Sanqing Mountain can be regarded as two large circles. The Sunshine Coast - Sanqing Fudi - West Coast in the west is a circle, connected by the high-altitude栈道 (cliffside path) on the cliff. The highlights are the Taoist architecture of Sanqing Palace and the sea of clouds on the West Coast; Nanching Garden in the east is a circle, which gathers iconic strange stones such as "Oriental Goddess" and "Python Out of the Mountain". The almost straight up and down "Yixiantian" (一线天, a narrow passage between steep cliffs) steep steps are also here. The two circles converge near Rishang Villa - Yu Huangding, forming an "8" shape. Further away are Sandongkou, Xihua Terrace, and Shigu Ridge, but fewer people go there.

The itinerary arrangement of Sanqing Mountain largely depends on whether you want to watch the sunrise, or where you want to watch the sunrise. If you want to watch the sunrise, you can almost only stay on the mountain. If you do not plan to stay on the mountain overnight, you can choose one of the areas to visit according to your preferences. Or go around the outside of the "8" shape for most of the circle and visit most of the essential attractions.

• Classic 1-Day Route

Many tourists take the Eastern Jinsha Cableway up the mountain, and they immediately arrive at the essence of Nanching Garden. It takes about half an hour to walk to "Python Out of the Mountain", and "Oriental Goddess" is not far to the left. Go west past Yu Huangding and "Three Dragons Out to Sea" to the high-altitude栈道 (cliffside path) on the Sunshine Coast, you can overlook the pastoral scenery below. The Sunshine Coast and the following Sanqing Fudi - West Coast are just connected into a circular tourist route. The ancient Taoist architectural complex in Sanqing Fudi takes Sanqing Palace as its core and is arranged according to the orientation of the "Xiantian Bagua Diagram", which is very delicate. Among them, Fenglei Pagoda is a place where many tourists scramble to take photos. Rest here for a while and continue forward to the high-altitude栈道 (cliffside path) on the West Coast. Near Sanqing Palace on the栈道 (cliffside path), "Monkey King Presenting Treasures" is also one of the strange rocks in the mountains. In the afternoon, it is a good time to watch the sea of clouds and sunset in Sanqing Mountain on the栈道 (cliffside path).

• Sunrise Watching 2-Day Route

If you plan to camp or stay on the mountain in order to enjoy the beautiful sunrise, it is recommended to take the Southern (Waishuangxi) Cableway up the mountain, walk the West Coast - Sanqing Fudi - Sunshine Coast - Yu Huangding, and then clockwise through Three Dragons Out to Sea, Python Out of the Mountain, and Oriental Goddess. You can stay or camp near here, and you can see a very beautiful starry sky at night if the weather is good. The next morning, continue to Yüqingtái to watch the sunrise, and then continue clockwise through "Jade Girl Praying", and take the steep steps of Yixiantian (一线天, a narrow passage between steep cliffs) back to the Southern Cableway. If you have enough time, you can also visit Wanshou Garden Scenic Area near the Southern Cableway.
