Step into a dazzling, otherworldly cave that is one of Qingyuan's most famous attractions. The Baojing Palace is a massive karst cave, a 16,000 square kilometer wonder that is three stories in its exploration. It is best known for the huge array of stalactites all around it, forming huge chambers and halls of ethereal beauty. Many of the areas are also illuminated in multicolored lights, adding to the fantasy appearance of the cave, as the multicolored stalactites droop down to standing pools of cave waters. There are man made walkways that allow you to explore the caves and learn about it, as well as the “themes” of the different halls. There's the Dragon's Beard (which the stalactites resemble), and the Royal Palace, which appears regal and castle-like. At the same time, this location is a cultural relic, with over 120 inscriptions from celebrated writers and poets of China inscribed upon the cliffs. It's a great opportunity to learn about the cultural importance of the cave, the inscriptions, and the styles of literature in China. It's a wonderful trip into a world of natural beauty, culture, and fantasy lights.
