Tokyo National Museum

The Tokyo National Museum was one of the most memorable experiences of our trip. The collections were fascinating, and it was incredible to see so many important pieces of Japanese history and culture in one place. The museum is much larger than I expected, and I would recommend setting aside at least five hours if you want to explore everything properly. There is so much to see, and every section offers something interesting and unique. One of my favorite parts was the beautiful garden area with traditional Japanese buildings. There was also a charming traditional café where we could relax with a coffee and cake while enjoying the surroundings. Being able to look inside some of the historic buildings made the experience even more special. I would highly recommend booking tickets in advance. There was a very long queue for visitors who had not pre-booked, and having tickets ready saved us a lot of time.

Follow Teacher Yang on a stroll through the Tokyo National Museum, where you can look back at lost Chinese treasures, from exotic ancient statues to the gentle Buddha heads of the Northern Dynasties. Then, move on to experience Japanese aesthetics, understanding the essence of Mono no aware, Yūgen, and Wabi-sabi, and glimpse the spiritual foundation of Japanese art through ancient paintings and Ukiyo-e. Each artifact connects the interwoven and mutually enriching civilizations of East Asia, and only by listening to the explanations can you truly understand the profound stories behind these objects.

a must visit for museum/history buffs! the Tokyo National Museum is one of the best museums i’ve been to, it had so much interesting artifacts & items. it was well laid out, ample space for seating too if you get tired of walking around. Its recommended to set aside 1 full day to ensure you get to visit all the galleries, half a day will leave you feeling rushed. I cannot recommend going here enough!

Fantastic experience with an interesting and diverse range of displays. Samurai swords and armour, textiles, ceramics, metalwork gallery and a special scroll exhibition from Chester Beatty which was excellent. English text available on the displays so recommend this for anyone visiting Tokyo. Klook pass saved queue for tickets so I was very happy. Children were free!

The Tokyo National Museum was absolutely worth visiting. The collection is much larger than I expected, with an incredible range of Japanese art, historical artifacts, Buddhist works, samurai-related pieces, ceramics, and treasures from different periods. I especially enjoyed how the museum gives you a chance to see the development of Japanese culture and craftsmanship up close. The buildings and galleries are spacious and peaceful, so I never felt rushed while exploring. I would definitely recommend giving yourself at least a few hours rather than trying to squeeze it into a short visit. Booking through Klook was also simple and convenient. A great place to visit in Tokyo, especially if you’re interested in Japanese history, art, and culture.

they say that if you can only visit one museum in Tokyo, it is this one right here. I fully agree and the crazy fact that I only visited one part of the museum today, due to timing. I visited the part where they housed the Asian ceramics. Chinese history, Indian history, Pakistani history, Egyptian history, you name it, it was awesome. we also visited the main hall, where majority of what I saw was Japanese related. I have a lot of respect for Japanese people as well as culture, and seeing the history blows my mind

TNM is a must visit place if you’re visiting Tokyo. We spent our day from 9.30am till 1.00pm and still didn’t manage to finish everything! Our list of things to do were visited all the exhibitions, shopped at Museum Shop, had Halal lunch (Kebab), walked around Museum Garden, had a tea session at the Tea House at the back (one of the amazing experience in TNM) and of course taking lots of pictures. Please buy with KLOOK and you will skip the ticket queue. Thanks KLOOK! Special shout out to TNM management team because of having a Halal vendor as a part of food trucks over there. Good job!

Skip the long queue and immediately get in the area. Expansive place to explore. Four mesuems available to enjoy.
