Penghu: Southern Four Islands & Qimei Island & Blue Cave Day Tour

I was lucky enough to have my itinerary upgraded that day, adding an exploration activity on Dongji Island, which made the trip even more complete. There are two ways to explore Dongji Island: follow the tour guide on foot, hike up the small "Bagua Mountain," and listen to the guide's humorous introduction to the unique flora, fauna, and customs of Dongji Island, which is very rewarding. From the Bagua Mountain Meteorological Station, you can overlook the entire harbor, with beautiful scenery. A small road next to it extends to the Dongji Island Lighthouse (unfortunately, due to limited tour time, we could only see it from a distance and take photos). Finally, follow the guide downhill back to the harbor. The second way is to rent a scooter (NT$250 per scooter) and explore the island on your own, which is the most free, time-saving, and labor-saving way to fully explore all the attractions of Dongji Island. After the Dongji Island exploration, the second itinerary was a cruise to the "Blue Cave," but unfortunately the "blue sky index" was low that day, so we couldn't get a glimpse of the beauty of the Blue Cave. The last stop was Qimei Island. There are also two ways to explore it: one is to take a dedicated tour bus, with the driver providing a guided tour of Qimei's classic scenic spots - the Seven Beauties Tomb (a brief stop, without entering to purchase tickets). Along the way, admire the unique igneous rock statues along the Qimei coast that resemble animals - crocodiles, stone lions, and dragon ridges (three points of resemblance, seven points of imagination), as well as the "Little Taiwan" sea erosion platform that resembles the island of Taiwan. Finally, arrive at the Double-Heart Stone Weir, which is also beautiful with a bit of blue sky and sea.

The Jinbada boat was quite stable, and I didn't feel seasick. The 80-minute stop at Dongji Island felt a bit rushed. It took some time to wait for the toilet after getting off the boat. It was recommended to use the toilet on the boat. There was an additional fee to rent a scooter for 250 yuan to go around the island. The Blue Hole was quite beautiful. The captain opened the upper deck for us to enjoy the scenery and take pictures, but the stop was not long. I liked Qimei the most. We chose to take a tour bus. The advantage is that there will be a guide on the bus and air conditioning, but the disadvantage is that the tour bus only stops at large attractions, so we returned to the pier early, and we could only hide in 7-11 to kill time. This is the only flaw. If you are not afraid of heat, it is recommended to rent a scooter in Qimei, which has high mobility and can enjoy every attraction in Qimei.

You will receive a text message for boarding the ship the day before. Remember to arrive 40 minutes early. The later you check in, the more people will check in. If you check in first, you can enjoy breakfast slowly and you won't be too rushed. When you first board the ship, remember to stick the sticker in a conspicuous place, or take a photo first to avoid losing it. The first attraction takes about 40 minutes. Remember to board the ship faster so that you can have a good seat (by the window), because the seats are not fixed. After getting off the ship every time, you need to pay attention to the boarding time and get on board early to have a good seat. We didn't know it at the beginning. Every time we got on the boat on time, we found that everyone was already seated. We could only go to the bow (the lower level, there are no windows, and when it shakes, we will worry about seasickness), so it's good to prepare early 👌 The subsequent journeys were all good. We chose to take a tour bus on Qimei Island, rest in the air-conditioned car, and listen to the tour guide's explanation on the bus. I felt very comfortable. It only costs a little more, and it's worth it 🤣

The cost does not include transportation on Dongji Island. You can choose to rent a motorcycle, golf minibus (the number is very small, the elderly, weak, women and children are given priority) or walk. It is recommended to rent a car to see the whole picture. The leader Lu Dan is a very cute and enthusiastic person , carefully explained along the way. After two days of heavy rain, the sea water was blue and clear, very suitable for taking pictures. When cruising at the Blue Cave, because the ship had a deep draft, we could only overlook the Blue Cave. The arrival time was around 1015, so we didn’t encounter it. It's a pity that the sun shines directly on the Blue Cave at noon. For transportation in Qimei, you can choose a tour bus or rent a motorcycle. The tour bus will only stop at attractions with parking lots, allowing tourists to go down and take pictures. Other attractions can be viewed from the car. The driver It's humorous and will explain on the bus. It happened to be a low tide at Shuangxin Shihu and you can see the complete Shihu.

Because I have to catch the 5:00 boat back to Taiwan, I chose Haian Yacht and arrived at Magong Port at about 15:30. The time is well matched. The four southern islands are really beautiful. Our speedboat is also quite close to the Blue Cave. When it is open, visitors can take pictures on the top deck! They all take care of the photo needs of tourists. But I bought tickets for two people on this trip, and one of them felt uncomfortable at the last moment and did not participate and there was no way to get a refund, so I should be allowed to enjoy the services of two people! As a result, the entire tour bus at Qimei Island was full, and I had to sit next to me. I was spending two people's money, so I should have two people to enjoy! Businessmen are really good at budgeting! It is simply taking advantage of consumers!

In fact, I was quite surprised to say that two working days before departure, the staff informed that because the number of people originally scheduled for the itinerary was not enough, they helped us to join the more expensive group that can board Dongji Island. Although I did not do my homework on Dongji Island at all, But thanks to the commentary guide on Jinbada 10: "Dazhi", we took us to know one of this special marine national parks on foot under the temperature of 30 degrees (you can also choose to rent a car or take an electric car), before leaving After Dongji Island, we also took us to overlook the scenery of the Blue Cave. Before we arrived at Qimei, we also recommended a few more air-conditioned stores for everyone to escape the summer heat. Of course, we also introduced many other delicious stores. . Overall, the trip satisfaction of the day is 5 stars. But the air conditioner in the front warehouse is really not cold enough. If you are afraid of heat, it is recommended to sit in the warehouse area with windows), and the tour guide Dazhi is really good and easy to chat. The whole ship The boat was swaying with the waves except that it was parked outside the Blue Hole, and the waves were a little bit stronger than before arriving at Qimei. The whole thing was super stable, and the return trip swayed steadily until I fell asleep 😂😂

After boarding the boat, I found that I couldn’t rent a motorcycle without a motorcycle driver’s license. I immediately asked the customer service staff if I could buy an additional car and exchange it for a tour bus. The customer service staff also quickly responded that I would ask the manufacturer. Change tour bus. After getting off the boat, rush to ask the relevant personnel. It is recommended that those who want to change the tour bus go directly to the tour bus to ask the tour guide to avoid the car driving away and not being able to rent a car. I am very grateful to the customer service staff for their quick response so that we can play in Qimei smoothly. You still need to take seasickness medicine to avoid seasickness, and it is also recommended to get on the boat early and choose a seat in the upper row to avoid getting too dizzy! The air-conditioning on the boat is very comfortable, and there are stops along the road for Tongpanyu and the Blue Cave for everyone to take pictures, but the Blue Cave will not open too close, only far away. In addition, in Qimei, the first stop will let everyone go to the toilet first. The whole journey from boarding to disembarking takes about 2 hours, and each point stays for 15 to 20 minutes. However, it is a pity that this tour bus trip did not go to Little Taiwan. On the way back, I was told that because of the recent road construction near Xiaotaiwan, the big car couldn’t drive past. It would be a bit of a surprise not to tell the tourists as soon as they got on the car. People who are going recently can pay attention.

The meeting time was 20 minutes before departure, scheduled for 7:40 AM, but we actually departed at 8:00 AM because we were waiting for a group of tourists. There was a guide on the boat who stayed with us, for example, we'd agree on a time to follow her for a tour, and the service was pretty good. However, on the return trip, there was no commentary about the islands we cruised past! We had 1.5 hours at Dongji Island and 3 hours at Qimei (including self-arranged lunch), which was plenty of time! It was great—the whole island-hopping day trip wasn't expensive, highly recommended! 👍

Although the island trip was shortened due to safety concerns due to the influence of the outer circulation of the typhoon, I still felt it was a very fulfilling experience!
