Original Big Whale Safari & Puffins RIB Speedboat Tour from Husavik

It was a very good experience. We saw whales emerging and breathing several times. I think it is better to choose a fast boat, which is more maneuverable and can be seen better.

Unbelievable and must-see experience. Weather was perfect. Boat got us very close to mostly humpback whales, individually as well as a group of 4-5 whales feeding together. Very lucky to also see a whole school of 20+ dolphins approaching and going past the boat at speed. Guide Fabio was very enthusiastic in providing interesting facts about the ceatures we saw. Kudos to the boat captain Halle too for giving us more time to experience these gentle giants. Also saw puffins although distance and their constant movement made photo taking hard.

It was an amazing experience! Before the trip, they touched base via email to highlight the possibility of rough seas condition & that the captain may cancel if it’s unsafe. Thankfully we managed to head out to whale watch, but also was warned of the bad sea conditions which were essential so that we are aware of what’s coming. The crew were highly professional, reemphasising to everyone knows of the sea conditions and safety instructions onboard, giving out bags for people who were vomiting onboard, and also proactively spotting whales for the rest of us! The crew were even able to recognise the whales we saw and have names for the ones that frequently travel near the bay! We saw a couple of humpback whales and had taken photos and videos :’) Strongly recommend this (price point may be on the higher side) but this is a one-in-a-lifetime experience.

The pre-trip notification was very detailed, and an email was sent to my inbox reminding me of various important details. We needed to gather 40 minutes before departure time because we needed to sign documents and put on gear. The RIB boat is highly maneuverable, allowing us to chase after whales very quickly 👍🏻

Iceland's weather is unpredictable. The day before our tour, the forecast showed strong winds and high waves. Thankfully, Gentle Giants provided an online link that allowed us to reschedule our trip. We were able to go out on a clear, calm day and saw several whales, and even dolphins at the end! It was a truly rare experience.

Taking a speedboat is very flexible. We saw two whales this time, and they also allowed time to stop at sea for taking pictures. I am very satisfied with participating in the activity. The supplier will send a letter before departure to notify you of the precautions and meeting time. They will also provide cold-proof safety clothing, but it can be quite cold at sea, so be sure to wear warmer clothes.

The weather wasn't great on the day I attended the event; the waves were a bit high, so we couldn't go to Puffin Island. All of our time was spent trying to spot whales. The guides' explanations were excellent!

It was exciting to go out to sea by speedboat, and with the addition of puffin whale watching and dolphin watching, the whole trip was worth it. I highly recommend the klook platform, which has the most favorable price. When I booked the ticket, I happened to encounter a discount, and the nearly 5,000 fee was directly cut in half. It was really a good deal.

Originally booked a boat trip, but the weather was too bad. Thankfully, it was free to cancel, and we rebooked for the next day when the weather cleared up and we saw lots of whales! The waves were quite strong, so don't eat too much breakfast. Although they provide extra warm clothing, make sure you're also prepared with your own warm layers.
